English from Class I in government schools

With a view to improve the English expertise of government school students, they will be taught English from Class 1. So far the language is introduced in the curriculum of these Odia medium schools from Class III. The guardians are also interested in this move as about 72% HSC examinations applicants who failed in 2019 had not cleared English paper. Initially, this step will be introduced in 100 schools where the duration of English class will be doubled from 45 minutes to 90 minutes.
