Green theme for this year's Puja

Bhubaneswar is all set to welcome the goddess in an eco-friendly manner. Several puja committees have decided to celebrate a pollution-free Durga Puja. One of the committees is going to create a replica of Rajasthan's Padmavati Palace by using bio-degradable items like sea shells and conches. Another committee has asked the devotees to bring offerings to the goddess on metal plates, cloth bags, bamboo baskets instead of plastic bags. Distribution of saplings among all the members of the committee remains one of their major target. In addition to this, many committees have decided against playing DJ music and to go for traditional bands in order to create awareness about traffic rules as well as environment protection.
