Tiger figure by NTCA disputed by state govt
Odisha Govt. counters NTCA’s Census for Tiger Population in the State. The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in its latest report regarding the survey done on the population of tigers in Odisha had revealed the figure as 28. The survey showed a decline in the population of tigers in the state & the figure was lesser than the census of 2010. The state govt. unconvinced with NTCA’ report took up a domestic survey nearly a year after it & objected the report of NTCA. The survey conducted in 46 forests and wildlife divisions displayed the population of Royal Bengal tiger as 40. Both pug mark & camera trap methods were used for counting.
