Gift of 'one child, one plant' to every new-parents
To ensure one of its kind drive, the authorities of the government-run Capital Hospital has launched the 'shishu tie, gachha tie' or 'one child, one plant' project which is believed will serve several purposes. This hospital is giving away a sapling for free to every new parent-couple and plans to distribute around 3,000 to 5,000 saplings in association with the forest department. Their object is to ignite encouragement for both parents and very young children to care for plants. Secondly, it feels that since the plant will be inextricably associated with happiness that a child brings into the parent's lives, there is a little chance of it being neglected or discarded. Parents are either taking away the saplings or planting them within the hospital premises.
