Bhubaneswar celebrates its 71st Foundation Day
On April 13th, Bhubaneswar will celebrate its 71st Foundation Day. The region, including the old town, was historically called Ekamra Khetra (Temple city). With events like World Cup Men's Hockey tournament and 'Make in Odisha' conclave, city's infrastructure has changed substantially, Bhubaneswar still retains charm of Odia culture and heritage. The city has many educational institutions of both international and national levels. It is the only city that has heritage sites linked to Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It also contains natural rivers and is India's first planned capital city by Otto H. Konigsberger, this makes the city a suitable candidate for UNESCO's World Heritage City tag.
