Youths from 76 slums included in socially smart project
The socially smart project is a tie-up of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The project was earlier limited to 24 slums falling under the Bhubaneswar Town Centre District (BTCD) area; however, presently it has been extended to 76 more slums. Under the project, the youths in the age group of 10-25 years of the slums are given self-defense training, driving and leadership. Reports have mentioned, there shall be 3 agencies that will start implementing the project with NGO partner Humara Bachpan Trust. In later stages, these youths will be linked with suitable training programmes for skill development.
