Bio-metric machines to mark attendance in colleges
There are about 52 government colleges and 488 fully aided colleges, out of which many teaching and non-teaching staff do not regularly attend classes. Higher education minister has asked government colleges and fully government-aided colleges to install biometric machines to mark the attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff. Official sources believe that these machines will make the attendance system transparent and would streamline the entire structure. The process of installing the machines has already started in 70 colleges with funds from the World Bank.
