World Bank Aided Work Progress Of ODRP
The World Bank had sanctioned $153 million to Odisha for reconstruction of disaster resilient houses blown off by Phailin in 2013 as well as to strengthen up the risk management system in Ganjam district. A team from World Bank has inspected the work progress early this year in January. State-owned Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) is implementing the Odisha Disaster Recovery Project (ODRP). The district administration has notified ODRP to complete the construction of ‘pucca’ houses by June end. Around 16,707 houses were targeted to be completed while only 4110 have been constructed and foundation work of 500 houses is yet to be laid. The district administrator has directed to supply water to the villages where construction is completed. Besides, the government has also undertaken to construct roads, provision of water & electricity in the areas.
