Centre and State to ensure better waste disposal in the state
Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC) has framed the Construction and Demolition (Waste Management) Rules, 2016 as per which individual or institutions shall have to pay user fee as such waste on public roads that causes traffic obstruction. More than 20 tonne waste generation per month requires a waste management plan approval from the local civic body. Under this Orissa State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) will monitor the disposal of construction and demolition waste which includes concrete, soil, steel, wood, sand, plastic and bricks. It will also approve the civic body to hire firms or private parties for waste segregation. Institutions resorting to waste disposal on their own shall be provided incentive under the new regulation.
