Law to be amended to make rural polling more inclusive
A bill has been proposed by the state government to amend archaic laws that do not allow people suffering from diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy, deaf and mute persons from contesting panchayat level elections. These diseases are curable now.This is a welcome move as the legal structure must be updated to suit the current environment.
